I'm currently busing down to Seattle so I can attend the Stranger election party tomorrow. When I told the border guard why I was headed south he said, 'Oh yeah, the election is tomorrow, isn't it?' I managed to simply nod and mumble something in the affirmative, instead of following my immediate instinct to jump across the desk and shake him by the lapels.
Was 2004 this stressful? That's not how I remember it. I guess this is one of the drawbacks to really liking a candidate and allowing yourself to hope.
I just saw this, source unknown: This is like Christmas Eve, with the added suspense of wondering if Santa will bring you a pony or burn your house down.

Which is not to say I'm as gaspingly in love with him as many of my liberal white male associates seem to be (perhaps they're the only ones talking about it loudly); but there's something pretty cool about being able to vote for someone because they're black and still be absolutely sure it's the right vote. If I may be so cynical and yet so naive.
Re: federally speaking
Same here. If McCain is Santa burning my house down .. knowing we'd have four more years of Bush was Santa crapping all over my house, pouring gasoline on it, setting it on fire, laughing as it burned, then extinguishing the embers with hydrochloric acid.
.. perhaps I exaggerate, but not by much.
