Tonight we leave for a perilous trip across the mountains in the dead of winter. Why? For the Tuesday Trilogy, which starts are 1pm tomorrow. The extended versions of Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers, followed by Return of the King. Since this is obviously one of the most important events to ever happen in my lifetime, I'm commemorating it with a Tolkien roadtrip mix CD.

It represents just about every phase of Tolkien inspired music. It has 60s/70s psychedelic rock. It has foreign 80s metalish bands. It has filk, wandering instrumental soundscapes and intricate Elvish songs. It has Howard Shore scoring and Hobbit rap. And no, it does not include Nimoy's Ballad of Bilbo Baggins.

Sometimes... sometimes I really love my life.

No, I didn't find any over a weekend of frantic searches. Are they any good? I think my parents might have the LP, but I only vaguely remember listening to it.

Um. "Good" is such a qualitative word… They're "interesting."
