During a fairly interesting panel on carbon nanotubes, I saw someone wearing a tshirt with the following design:

I am ashamed to admit that it took me about a minute to work it out in my head. My calculus skills are rusty. I couldn't help laughing out loud when I realized what it was, as much from surprise that I hadn't guessed as surprise at such a... dorky tshirt. Rather funny, but crude and not something I'd actually wear. After relating this to a fellow filker, he came up with the following alternative:

I should start a CafePress store selling them. If you're going to be a geek (and a tshirt with an integral on it is geeky, no way around that) then why limit yourself to such a tired and mundane referant?

2xdx integrates to x2. (3x2 + 2x - 2)dx integrated to x3 + x2 - 2x. You evaluate the integral by subtracting the value you get by plugging the lower value into the equation from the value you get using the upper value.

I won on the indefinite side, and lost on the definite side. They make more sense now.
