And it's good to see these ON you, and finally have a sense for scale. I've been thinking about them as oversized novelty sunglasses. These are much smaller than I expected.
So will there be video of the finished version in action?
They feel about the right size when I'm wearing them, but I'd probably increase the diameter slightly if I was going to make another pair.
I'll certainly try to get video. I've been lacking a decent digital camera for a few months now, so it's been hard to document properly. I'm hoping they're neat enough that I'll get some good pictures taken of me by random people on the playa...
At max transparency they pass 32% of the light, which (thanks to the logarithmic nature of human vision) is fine for use inside at night. At the other end, they're more or less opaque, getting into welding goggle levels of attenuation (not that I'd ever use them for that!). Because of restrictions in the gear ratios, I don't actually get the full range, but I don't often need full opacity anyway. (Mark II will have a microphone and Peril Sensitive features, though.) It's proving very hard to get the two lenses balanced in transmission, and keep them there, so usually there is a bit of mismatch between the two, but that's only visible at the higher levels of opacity so far.

In any case, that is superb work.
