Some time ago I made an mp3 control panel. A drive bay cover with a play/pause switch and a prev/next switch, hooked up to the parallel port, with some simple software to send commands to the DJ. And it worked pretty well -- being able to reach up and pause the music or skip to the next song is very convenient. Except the play/pause switch wasn't momentary, so there were state synch issues if the web interface was used. And I started to wish I could at least play/pause the VJ in the same way.

So tonight I replaced the prev/next rocker switch with a an old joystick module. The big red switch now changes between controlling the DJ and the VJ, while the joystick does all of play/pause/prev/next (up/down/left/right). It looks kind of funky, but that really isn't a deterrent for me. So yay feeling productive. Maybe I'll do some work work now.
