We are go for Alaska!

I want to do all this planning and prep work for it, but there isn't much else to be done right now. Buy a copy of the Milepost once this year's edition comes out next month. Keep adding to my packing list as I think of things. Obsessively go over possible activities and weigh their different costs (in money and time) against each other. Keep an eye out on ebay for a cheap GPS unit for my cellphone/PDA. Try to arrange to borrow a laptop so we have a chance of not getting bored with our music selection after two weeks.

Maybe I'll go buy some maps and work on memorizing them. That would feel useful.

Go see glaciers calving. Also ice worms. Those were the things that made the biggest impression on me when I was in Alaska, other than the general grandeur and awe-inspiring beauty of the place. And the cold. I was there in July and kept thinking "I should come back here in the summer". Anyway, yay for you!
