gfish: (freefall)

miscellanea

Check it out. I finally made icons from the vomit comet video. I actually like the hypoxia one better, visually. But the freefall one obviously wins overall.

I think writing [livejournal.com profile] spiritrover is starting to leak over into the rest of my brain. Last night I (re)watched The Breakfast Club and tonight it was Pump Up the Volume. Oh well, never hurts to be reminded of those themes.

In related news, it would have been Dogma tonight1 because of the other major mental contamination going on right now. I have an idea for a new movie. A big idea. A feature length movie, with action and drama and high faluting theological concepts. Sort of like Dogma crossed with Neon Genesis Evangelion crossed with The Matrix. A... very interesting kind of blasphemy. I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off, but I'm looking into doing some short action test movies. As always, I'll be looking for help, particularly actors. The rough outline has 5 major roles (of which 1 is already cast, 1 needs to be someone older, and 2 will require lots of actiony stunts), another 2-5 minor roles, and basically as many extras as I can get. So if attaching your name to what most organized religions would consider a terrible corruption of their faith doesn't bother you, this could be your chance to enter the glamorous world of a Midgard Studios production.

1: Except that [livejournal.com profile] cow still has my copy.

A chance to make a movie, AND offend religious sensibilities. I can't pass that up.

I'm willing to help out with technical stuff (camera, lighting, editing, sound) and be an extra or possibly take one of the minor roles.

So who gets to be zapped by lightning on the set?

I anti-nominate myself for Jesus.

Awesome. After seeing your NYE pictures, and poking around your site, I've been meaning to ask if you'd be interested in helping. I'm getting better at composing shots, but it just isn't really my thing. Having a dedicated cinematographer with your sense of composition would be great!

I can also contribute the use of some equipment. I have access to a couple of decent smallish movie lights, consumer level camcorders, tripods, and my Mac w/Final Cut Pro.

I *might* also be able to borrow a semi-pro panasonic 24p camcorder and/or boom mike.

The movie lights could be useful. I recently acquired a nicely equiped GL2, so we're good for cameras. I have a decent tripod on loan from [livejournal.com profile] datavore, but all my heads suck. However, I've done the last 3 movies entirely handheld and I'm mostly happy with the result. Particularly the last one, which was done with a rented GL1. Even better stabilization, and the handle on the top helps for some angles. What I'd really like to explore next is using the wheelchair for dolly shots. We tried it with marginal results 2 years ago for Now Be Dragons, but that was with an ancient camcorder with no stabilization.

Oh, and I'll happily PA. If there's a role where I'd be good, I'll act, too.

Ooo, ooo, cross three of my favorite movies? I want in!
