We made it safely over the mountains. Whatever our doom is, it wasn't to freeze to death on the pass last night. (I just finished reading The Silmarillion. I bet you didn't know that it was written by Gir. Every third word is 'doom'.) (Xia, you should be glad to know that I went prepared for the pass. If my frozen corpse had been found by the side of the road this morning, it would have been wearing the klein hat.)

We're now in the theater, with 2.5 hours to go. Since this is the first showing of the day, they haven't bothered with a line. Nice to have good seats for the wait.

It's a pretty slick setup. We get shiny laminated passes, good deals on concession food, and they're going to feed us pizza before Return of the King.

Some costumes, but not too many. A lot of people here complaining about the Cinerama fiasco in Seattle. A very loud and bossy Arwen is giving directions to her entourage right behind my head. She better shut up for the movies or else... uh... I'll see her off to Valinor myself. Or something.

Does wearing a klein hat on a trip through the mountains count as the geek version of putting different sweater patterns on the fishermen so you can identify corpses when they wash ashore?

Which reminds me, did I tell you I want my next sweater to have a DNA helix-shaped cable up the front? One of the knitting magazines printed up the cable pattern a few months ago, in honor of the anniversary of DNA's discovery. It's a nifty pattern.
