Hey, I worked on Port Orchard's float as a kid -- my parents were chair and co-chair of the float committee for a few years. It was an awesome float, too, and won a lot of awards. :)
Fathoms o' Fun is Port Orchard's 4th of July celebration. I dunno what-all they still have going on, but when I was a kid there was always a carnival for a couple weeks (big event of the year for kids!), soap box races (my racer was called Angela's Arrow), a frog jump, jalepeno pepper eating contest, snake race, pet parade... Hm, I guess there must've been more for adults, too. :) And of course the fireworks display over Sinclair Inlet on the 4th.
