We took the Kalamazoo out for a roadtest yesterday, to see how the new flywheel handled.

(I'm also wearing my new hat, which I'm terribly fond of.)

With an angle grinder, actually. First cut the outer curve following a template I designed in Inkscape. Then I mounted two fresh cutoff disks in the grinder for extra width, and measuredd that on a test piece. With that I got the angular spacing needed, and made another template with both the radials and an inner circumference to mark the depth. I transferred the marks with a punch and scribe, and then just carefully ground in with the grinder following the guides. A bit of cleaning up with a file and it was done. I'm quite happy with that mechanism, the Kalamazoo desperately needed a lever with a release handle on it. :)
