April Tools update

If all went well, the registration form for April Tools has been sent out. That means that my team, The Archimedes Screwballs, consisting of myself, [livejournal.com profile] randomdreams, [livejournal.com profile] neuro42 and [livejournal.com profile] niac will be competing. We'll have 3 hours to build a wood boat out of unknown materials only using hand tools. Some lucky subset of us will then get to race it around the harbor, probably getting very wet in the process.

All this happens on April 30, starting at 10:00. If people want to come cheer us on, that would be cool. It's a ~5 hour drive from Seattle, so the team itself is hopefully all heading up the night before. I know others plan to head up Saturday and maybe miss the first part of the build. If nothing else, it's a great excuse to see the Sunshine Coast, which has the odd distinction of being on the mainland, just a bit north of Vancouver and yet still only accessible via ferry.

That's a good team name!

Bah, I *still* like "Rum, Sodomy & The Lash"

And you always will. ;)

Well, c'mon, who doesn't?

Okay, I'm not actually a drinker. And I'm not actually into S&M. I'm not even super-enthusiastic about sodomy, when it comes right down to it.
Hm.
Mostly I just wanted to dress up like a Navvie, I think, and maybe chuck limes at competitors.

Sum, Lodomy ...

Who gets to be Sodomy?

I figure it takes two...

Is the Sunshine Coast inaccessible by land because of mountains? I've wanted to travel North from Vancouver along the coast but realized that there were no roads going that way...

It is more than a five hour drive from Otsego, Michigan. Just consider yourself cheered on from a distance!
