Did anyone else have the moment, when they were a kid, that they suddenly wanted to stay with the adults and talk at the table after a big holiday meal instead of running off to play? I think that was my first time I was really conscious of growing up.

That was me from about age 6 on. I was always more interested in hanging out with the adults than in people my own age. I started deeply identifying with one of my cousins when I noticed she was the same way — starting from childhood, she was more interested in quietly sitting in the room listening to the grownups than running off to play.
