On a whim, I'm flying down to the Bay Area next month to attend this. Have I mentioned how much I love the Long Now seminar series? Because I do. So why not attend a really interesting looking one?

And it means I can see some grad friends I really miss!

But most importantly, it means I can finally go see the Difference Engine. Frankly, it's a mark of shame that I wasn't there the instant they unpacked it. Which raises the question -- do I have any contacts at the Computer History Museum? Because I would really, really, really like to see it close up. I promise not to drool on it, honest. But if I could turn the crank, just once... I would be a very happy Fish. Call it research for Attoparsec.

It is good to see that Stewart Brand is still around and active!

As often as his projects have ended up intersecting my life, I'm particularly looking forward to seeing him in person. I just stumbled across an article (http://wheels.org/spacewar/stone/rolling_stone.html) he wrote about Spacewar for Rolling Stone in 1972 which is quite the head trip.
