more pretty

Didn't finish Jacob's Ladder No. 1 today as I was hoping, due to a lumber snafu. But I did stain the wood frame pieces I have finished, did the final mounting of the electronics package, and mostly finished the second etched plate.

Still thinking about smithing a custom handle for the top, but I'm kind of wanting to get this project done at this point.

The u-bolts holding the motor in place came with ugly nut plates, so I obviously had to make my own.

And why not find a weird quote to put on it? The etching on this one was deeper, but I messed it up a bit in the sanding stage. I was an idiot and didn't mask those large un-etched sections. Oh well, live and learn. Still need to square up the edges a bit with a file, too.

Tomorrow I leave for NYC. I have far too many things I want to do, of course, but that's just how this works. Should be all kinds of fun!

Very nice. Don't you think panhead screws or rivets would look better on the plaque, though?

Yeah, but those are the u-bolts holding up the motor. Using acorn nuts there is about as good as I can do.

Oooh, how about adding "He who wrestles with angels must take care..." :>
