Visits

I'm sitting around unemployed these days, which is not something I'm used to. (I'm really rather enjoying it, though I'm probably not supposed to admit that.) One convenient side-effect of putting almost all my tuition on credit cards over the last two years is that I have a healthy stock of reward points built up, enough to get me a round-trip flight anywhere in the country. So I'm going to fly out to visit [livejournal.com profile] adularia and finally get to see New York. Which raises the question: is there anyone else I should visit while I'm at it? The dates aren't set yet, and so far seem to completely lack constraints. I'm primarily asking about the east coast, within train distance of NYC. But I'm open to the idea of other trips, particularly those drivable from Seattle, should you want a piscine visit. Let me know!

We're not more than a few miles walk from you, but there are projects here that could use a(n extra) pair of skilled hands, e.g. replacing the awful not-working rheostat with a working one, or helping build replacement bookshelves, or figuring out why perimeter lighting isn't working, etc, etc. If you have some spare cycles, we'd love the company and the practical help!

for NYC, you might ask _wirehead_ for a calendar of geek events.

You saw the "mad scientist wanted" ad on Craigslist, didn't you? I thought of you.

Yeah, I saw it. They wanted people with experience teaching small children. =\

Make sure [livejournal.com profile] adularia introduces you to [livejournal.com profile] regyt and [livejournal.com profile] novalis. :-)

Seriously. I think that you and [livejournal.com profile] novalis would get along incredibly well. I've known him for...wow, nine years now, though I haven't seen him for quite a while.

Don't worry, [livejournal.com profile] novalis was at the top of the list o' people Fish needs to meet. I'll talk to him and [livejournal.com profile] regyt soon. [livejournal.com profile] teferi and [livejournal.com profile] 2muchexposition, too. :)

Also, we should swing by Resistor. A lot of maker-y culture flows out of there, these days.

He has, in fact, played with my forge at some point. :) But it would be nice to see him again, it has also been years for me.

I've just started planning my first trip to NYC for April. Maybe we can swap bright ideas when we've gotten some recommendations!

[livejournal.com profile] ladymondegreen and [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon live out that way, don't they?

We do. I just happened to stop by and see this too, which is kind of funny.

We'd be very happy to meet you, as we're already friends of [livejournal.com profile] vixyish.
