Unserious

I currently have a crush on the word "unserious". Part of that is environmental -- it's a vital term to have when discussing modern politics. But there is also something about it as a word. It feels slightly unserious itself, thus adding a nice rhetorical feedback loop. More than that, it feels unapologetically direct and unadorned. It has an ugly industrial aesthetic to it, pure military functionality.

Yeah. Unserious. <3

What words/terms/phrases are you crushing on?

Um... I suspect this isn't quite what you mean, but there's this great dynamic going on between "wu" "wu wei" and "zi ran" (foo - something's wrong with my input manager. Can't write the characters, don't have time to get that working...)

"Bork bork bork", in part because of my new friend [livejournal.com profile] bork....

"Actually not" - F/O Jeff Skiles' reply to Capt. Sulley's query if he had any ideas, some two minutes before splashdown on the Hudson...

"Citizen journalis{t,m)"... what's going to drive the news for the next few years... see my previous post about YouTube Direct...

"Unwise". This is an old favorite, I snagged from country artist Roy Clark. "Wouldn't be very difficult, but it would also be unwise." Or its Russian variant: "105% possible... but not recommended." (Red October.)
