I think it's good, on occasion, to be reminded of just how far we've come.

If the wife have her own free will, notwithstanding she be of a superior caste, she will behave amiss.

WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOHOOHOOHOOHOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

(That was the sound of me behaving amiss. Or running amok. Whichever.)

'Bout 20 years ago or so, while working in a used bookstore, I stumbled upon a book called "Fascinating Womanhood." We roared w/laughter when reading it aloud. 'Cept folks still freakin' believe this carp! The website (quiet for the past couple of years, I note) trumpets how now (post-Feminism) "Women are locked into the working world and are now crying for circumstances to change so they can stay home and serve their husbands and family as domestic goddesses, devoted wives and mothers." (http://www.fascinatingwomanhood.net/classes/classes.php) GAH!
