Huh. I just got drafted to be a poll monitorscrutineer in the Canadian election Tuesday.

Actually, this will be on half of the New Democratic Party. But I'm sure in years to come I'll describe the experience as being an international poll monitor, yes. :)

I wonder what the average Albertan would think if they found out the socialists had non-citizen poll captains encouraging their non-citizen friends to come be scrutineers as well?

This job is being a partisan observer for a political party, so the only important quality is to be a supporter of the party. I don't think non-citizens (or non-Permanent Residents, anyway) could become Elections Canada employees, the people who actually count the votes.

He was a scrutineer of the count for a poll, but yeah. Same kind of thing. :)
