The last 24 hours have been very tiring.

Last night the drive belts started slipping, making a very bad noise. The friction between tires and carpet, when combined with the weight of 4 laptops was winning the battle. After thinking of some very desperate moves, we tried reducing the friction through the application of honest-to-Eris duct tape. Some last minute hax, working until the security guards kicked us out of the convention center, and we had a working robot. All my laser code was dropped, unfortunately.

I thought that having it still be light out at 23:30 would have made it feel less late when we finally left. Instead, it looked more like dawn and made it feel even later, stumbling home at 6:00.

The adoring crowd:

So far, while we really didn't do as well as we should have, we seem to be competitive. One robot team has yet to run, but they've already had to delay because of problems. Official scores come out tomorrow. We'll get extra credit for announcing our high confidence matches in realtime, at least.
