Competition prep continues, slowly. We are, of course, not really ready. Tomorrow is the trial run, then the real thing the next day. So very tired.

This morning was a minor panic as the SLAM (mapping as we drive around) started to completely fail. This seems to have been fixed with the addition of guy wires to our camera tower -- the carpet here really grabs our wheels during skid-steering (aka tank-like) turns, causing a wicked wobble. As a nice side-effect, the wires add a rakish schooner look to the robot. I also took the opportunity to run another short line on which to mount our little Canadian flag.

My code, what little there is, is all done and working so I'm mostly just running errands as needed. I got the team poster finished today and delivered to Kinkos. I'm currently sitting in a spare room, working on making the HTML progress monitor as dynamic and interesting as possible, while our robot takes pictures of me. Good to know that I present a salient target.

Eee! This pleases me quite a lot.

It waves bravely thanks to the remaining turn vibrations. We're going to submit a paper on it to AAAI: Towards the Use of Skid-Steering Instability for Patriotic Displays.

That very line made me giggle. :)
