Holy crap. So, I'm running intro programming labs again this term. Which is tiring, but a lot more fun and interesting than beta-testing assignments again. Today was the first lab with real work in it, and I quickly fell back into my extremely open and encouraging TA persona. Extroverted, willing to expound on random topics, running back and forth with somewhat exaggerated physical movements. I just realized where this all came from.

I'm acting like the Doctor. That completely blows my mind.

Really, not a surprise, though definitely a delight. =)

It's interesting how much I have certain personae for very well-defined roles. I have a public speaking/presentation persona, a explaining things in a professional setting persona, and martial arts instructor persona. Think the taking-on-the-role aspect of teaching is very interesting.

For martial arts, there is an entirely separate reserve of energy I tap into, apparently. Had a teammate comment how I looked dead-tired walking onto the floor, became fully energized for the 1.5 hour class, then deflated at the end.

Sounds like what TAing does to me. 4 hours in a row is really way too much, but it's only for 5 weeks.

I second [livejournal.com profile] grinninfoole. For the love of god, get yourself a scarf. Energy like that should be celebrated.

Also, this is the cutest thing I've ever heard. And pictured. And the fact that it blows your mind is also pretty cute.
