This weekend marked the first major change to my utility belt configuration in almost 2 years. I switched out the digital camera with a much smaller model my parents gave me for Christmas, and finally replaced the lost monocular. It's weird to suddenly be a good centimeter narrower.

Current components:
Leatherman (Charge XTi)
LED flashlight
Sharpie (retractable)
Digital camera
Monocular
PDA/Cellphone
50 feet of 3mm utility cord (built into the belt itself)

Pouch, rear right hip: LED-modified 2AA maglite. Retractable scissors. Industrial-strength Sharpie. Lighter.
Leatherman holster, read left hip: Charge Ti (I was torn between the Ti and XTi, but wanted scissors)
Pouch, front left hip: Camera, memorystick reader

Camera hangs from the right front pocket.
Monocular is in a side pocket of my bag.
WiFi detector is in opposite side pocket of bag.

I was also torn, but the nylon-webbing cutting hook sold me on the XTi. I just knew that, having read about the feature, I would someday need to cut a seatbelt off someone real damned quick if I didn't get it. And there wouldn't be enough curse words in all the languages of the world at that point.

Of course, having gone with that model, this situation hasn't come up. But it is pretty useful for quickly cutting twine.

Yeah. I wanted the cutting hook AND scissors. but wanted the scissors more.
