morituri te salutant

Done, done, done1! It has been a very long time indeed since I have studied that hard for anything. At a guess I got about 75% of the absolute marks, but the prof just sent out an email saying he hadn't meant the final to be so brutal. If I failed, I failed with honor. I can face winter break with my head held high.

Four weeks with no pressing deadlines! I can read for pleasure again! I can work on personal projects! I can... start boning up on Bayesian stats in preparation for CPSC 540 Machine Learning next term. Oh well. Tonight: sushi!

1: Well, not really. I still have a rewrite of my AI paper due Friday and the 111 final to invigilate and mark. But that's all pretty minor, in comparison.

*chuckle* Love the subject line. Wonder how many other folks will know what it means, or its origin? :)

And yay for break! Sometimes I miss academia. Hell, scratch the "sometimes". Pay sucks, but the life is good. Except when it's not, and even then, when the quarter (or semester) is over, it's *over*.

I have it on good authority that "moraturi te salutant" is a pretty good approximation for "We who are about to procrastinate salute you."

Congratulations, [livejournal.com profile] gfish! You've earned that sushi.

Oooh, I think I like that version even better. It's certainly more relevant to my life, on the whole.
