...also known as NABLA

I think this might be the most visually perfect mathematical expression:

Aaah, LaTeX. It's been too long. I'll never stop being amazed at just how good everything looks in it.

I read that as NAMBLA.
Eep!

Thank you. I feel normalized by this.

Also: I do NOT look good in Latex.

Uh, no. That would be:

Visually perfect. Unfortunately named.

Mmm, del.

At some point, I realized that LaTeX looked so good, because my definition of "good" was based on Big Important Papers that used LaTeX. That made me happy. :)

Hmm... every time I see a book set in Computer Modern, it's crap.

Huh, is that a... gradient? [wikis] Yeah, it is. It's nice to think all my undergrad math hasn't leaked away; we didn't use the term "nabla" for that notation.

[identity profile] tmfkan64.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's a gradient. But you can make a divergence, curl, or Laplacian with the same symbol!

naw, the del needs to be squared, and it should be a full (poisson) equation.

poisson and green rule!!

but i still think the bestest equation is

e^(i*pi) + 1 = 0

Die! Die! Die, sister-fucking rat bastard!

LaTeX is one of the few pieces of software that makes me froth at the mouth! Even when I was using it fifteen years ago there were better alternatives, albeit for a steep price. Tell me you're not using it voluntarily.

Of course I am. No one is going to take technical papers typeset in anything else seriously.

Have you read a conference proceedings or other collection of papers from within the last 8 years? Everyone switched to Word a long time ago. There are a few LaTeX holdouts and a few new people coming to use it, but there are also people who learn C in this day and age and think it's OG to write it K&R. Some of them even like to pretend void doesn't exist!

Aaaah, LaTeX indeedy. You can even do music with it.
