The house is packed up, ready to go into storage for the summer. Tomorrow I return my work laptop and turn off the DSL. Saturday morning I head out.

The plan: We drive north for 2 days, to Hay River on the Great Slave Lake. There the truck is put on a barge, and we pay an outfitter to drive us to mouth of the river at Fort Providence. We then spend 5 weeks canoeing north to Inuvik, 1700 kilometers away. Hopefully the truck is waiting for us when we get there. After getting out to see a pingo somehow, we drive back to Seattle, arriving no later than August 5. See this map for an overview of the route.

[livejournal.com profile] vixyish might be posting updates as she gets them, but don't expect to hear much from me until early August.

very cool; thanks! Take a picture of the pingo

Oh, and just because why should I be the only one thinking this...

There was a hilltop Jack Frost built, and pingo was its name, oh,
P I NG O, P I NG O, P I NG O
And pingo was its name, oh!
