Wilderness First Aid

I want to take this wilderness first aid class, May 19-20 in Seattle. (Some details available in this brochure.) I know several other people have expressed interest in doing this as a group thing, so here's your chance to speak up. Who wants to spend a weekend splinting imaginary broken bones and discussing hypothermia?

**shuffles her feet nervously and looks around**

If I were there, I'd say "HELL to the YEAH." Because I'm a morbid sort who finds this sort of information and training useful in a potporri kind of way.

You should come up for it! :)

Also, certainly nothing wrong with getting training just for the sake of learning. Someday I'm going to break down and sign up for the Certificate of Training in United Nations Peace Support Operations (http://www.unitarpoci.org/cotipso.php).

Ohh, sounds like fun, but way out of my area.

I recieved lots of long term 1st aid training when I was Australia. Between the military's battle field 1st aid and St John's Ambulance outback training, I knew how to keep someone alive and transport them till you got someplace where there were trained personell to care for the injured.

Can't afford it. Maybe another time.

This sounds like and awful lot of fun, and I don't know what my schedule will be like that weekend. Maybe, though.

I really, really want to. Trying to figure out if I can justify the money. Any idea when the class will fill up?

I just signed up.

Yikes, that is a bit pricey. Usually I just go by my Wilderness 911 book, or whatever it's called. After looking it up after my ocean swimming adventure this past fall, I realized that yes, I had had hypothermia. :)

I don't know if I do enough seriously back country stuff to justify it, though when I'm in the boundary waters it could prove to be useful. Though, at most people are 24 hours away from finding at least one other person.

I'm interested, but I've got family in town that weekend. Thanks for the pointer, though.

It looks like there are similar classes in the area every couple of months. I have no reason to favor this one beyond the timing.

i'd love to - but still don't know where we'll be at that point in time...though, unfortunately, it may very well be "still here." definiately something kyle & i need to do.

The date works fine for me (and if there are others, they'd probably be fine too - I have no standing weekend plans that I can think of.) I am definitely going to do it. It would seem sort of required. :)

Yeah, that actually sounds great
