Driving 200 miles only to find out that they have sold out of donuts.

Have done it, only it was gingerbread. And we did it TWICE. Once we got there outside of opening hours, and once we got there and found they'd decided they didn't want to be open on Tuesdays anymore.

Well, I wasn't *driving*, but general principle applies.
