We've actually been using a VCR to record recently. Which means that we've been switching the antenna back and forth between it and the TV. I got tired of the nasty little F connectors and wanted something more suitable to connecting and disconnecting on a regular basis.
'I know,' I says to myself, 'I'll go to Rat Shack to pick up some F-to-BNC adapters! That way I can use some of the BNC-fitted coax I picked up at Boeing Surplus years ago!'
So I get there. The U-district branch still carries component electronics, but is obviously very geared towards batteries, TVs, cheap computers and cell phones. Lots of cell phone. Want to guess where their profit margin comes from? Yeah.
A redneck couple is arguing about some cell phone policy with the three employees present. Normally not being accosted would be fine by me, but I can't find the F-to-BNC adapters. One of the staff, a stereotypically ditzy blond, approaches.
'Can I help you?'
'Yes, I'm looking for an F connector to BNC adapter.'
'Oh, like I'd know what that is! Teehee! Let me get someone else.'
(She didn't quite say 'teehee'. But the rest is verbatim.)
Another employee comes over, points me to the hidden section of such adapters, and tells me they don't carry them. I continue to look, my instincts to not trust the advice of a rat shack employee honed by years of anger and frustration.
Done helping me, the sales-weasel decided to pull the third employee into the back room to have a very loud hissy-fit. Apparently the third employee was in the process of stealing the redneck cellphone customers stolen from the second employee. The back room is, of course, right next to the hidden section of rf adapters.
They did, of course, carry F-to-BNC adapters. I got out as quickly as I could, but not before the redneck-cellphone-customer-stealing third employee tried to get me to buy something else, like some batteries or a cellphone. Ugh.
And the sad thing is, this was one of my better visits.

I'm still looking for one of the G.I. JOEs (http://www.gijoe.com/) that were modified by the BLO (http://www.rtmark.com/blo.html).
