(no subject)

I'm bored.

While the Alaska trip was indeed quite long, the Mercator projection here is exagerating things slightly.

I hope to make this a lot more impressive next summer. Sigh.

You beat me for roads in Washington and north, but I think my 3 cross country trips win for east to west. That's an interesting idea I think I'll have to make one of those myself.

Yeah, it's really lame that I don't have any cross-country trips. (That's what I get for living in the same state my entire life!)

If you're not in a hurry, the tool I used to do this should be public in a month or so...

No hurry. It will take that long to dig up my journals of the trips to remember what roads I drove.

Nice! I want to steal "the tool" and mark out roads and railrods I've been on.

this "tool"

railroads! squee!

[identity profile] gfish.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly I haven't found a practical way to make +++++ style railroad lines yet. But there are a couple of strictly 1D line types to choose from, or you could just use different colors.

UPDATE: Writing this comment made me think of a way that JUST MIGHT WORK. I'll have to try it out tonight...

Yeah, that feature is added.

That's really cool. When you release it, I'll give it a go. It's going to be tricky. (Helped considerably that all my European stuff has been by bike, so doesn't qualify for 'driving'.)
My dad did those for bicycling, and I still have all his hand-colored maps of, well, the whole US and most of Canada. He would've gone berzerk if he'd've gotten to see this.
My boss is a whiz: he has his GPS and laptop interlinked so he has a map of everywhere he's driven in the last 8 years.

Neat. I'd use this.

you didn't visit me when you was in lost angels! :-(
