Having decided I like the headset thing, I bought a Plantronics Discovery 655 which arrived today. It's impressively slick -- I definitely closer to the singularity with it on. I also just gave myself a headache wildly shaking my head, testing its staying power. (I couldn't budge it.) So, yay for the future.

Anyone want a slightly used Philips Vox 150? It was decent enough, just a bit hard to hear over background noise. It isn't an in-ear style, so the used thing shouldn't be too gross.

I also bought a chunk of Iceland Spar, for reasons that will soon be revealed.

Any particular reason you chose the Plantronics headset? I'm in the market for one (in the sub-$100 price range), but reviews seem to imply that all BT headsets suck.

Mostly because a boss has the 645, likes it, and it seemed to fit everything I was looking for. (Super comfortable, very good audio quality, very secure.) Downsides so far: I'm still having problems voice dialing from it, and the optional earloop needs to positioned just right or it pinches over time. I'm really surprised at how firmly it stays in even without the earloop, though -- it's just doesn't have enough mass or lever moment to jostle itself out.

My current lust-object is this (http://www.nextlink.se/Templates/Article0.aspx?PageID=edc978c2-012f-4a58-8b14-f8b7e9a35921), but it's not out yet. If it actually ships and works I'll be really happy though.

The fact that there's no photo, only a 3-D rendering, doesn't look promising. Aren't there some intelligibility drawbacks with bone conduction microphones?

It's got to be better than the current crap that's on the market.
