Having decided I like the headset thing, I bought a Plantronics Discovery 655 which arrived today. It's impressively slick -- I definitely closer to the singularity with it on. I also just gave myself a headache wildly shaking my head, testing its staying power. (I couldn't budge it.) So, yay for the future.

Anyone want a slightly used Philips Vox 150? It was decent enough, just a bit hard to hear over background noise. It isn't an in-ear style, so the used thing shouldn't be too gross.

I also bought a chunk of Iceland Spar, for reasons that will soon be revealed.

Several people at Perl Mongers were saying that they don't shop at Fry's for exactly that reason: they eagerly take return merchandise, repackage it, and stick it back on the shelf as new.

Which is why I don't tend to returns things, except when something is actually wrong with that product. I've been screwed over by that before.

In my experience they usually put a reduced-price-returned-item sticker on it, at least in Seattle. But lots of places do that, yeah.

But then, the only reason I ever buy anything at Fry's is if I think I might want to return it (or, rarely, because I'm in more of a hurry than fedex overnight), so I can't really complain. :)
