(no subject)

I'm such a public transit geek, I'm all excited about getting into the tester program for the long-promised regional smart card payment system.

Sadly, none of the Metro test routes are on the east side. The closest route to me is the Bellevue-to-Seatac Sound Transit, the 560.

None of them are very useful for me, either, but I'm willing to go out of my way for something like this. :)

Go, you! That sounds like a great system! I hope that it works out and gets adopted.

Thank you for being willing to do the early adopter pain thing.

Because it's important that we replace an anonymous cash-based system with a non-anonymous one.

(Yes, I know it's not that simple, and that it both could be done right and is providing a useful new set of functionality; I just don't trust such systems unless they're explicitly dsigned to be non-invasive, which they never are.)

Not until I can use them on a submarine.

Though I'm glad to see a sensible system being tried out, here.

Heh, I was looking at that yesterday evening. I'm unclear on how it works: do you still have unlimited bus rides, as with the magnetic pass?

I'm not sure of it either. The test cards won't even be payment; I'll still need to flash my upass.

I love my Chicago Card. I get the monthly pass option for it, and there's even specific turnstiles just for Card users now. It's also nice to be able to track my trips for the past 90 days.
