Vol I. For Anno 1665, and 1666.

A Spot in one of the Belts of Jupiter

The Ingenious Mr. Hook did, fome moneths fince, intimate
to a friend of his, that he had, with an excellent twelve foot Te-
lefcope, obferved, fome days before, he than fpoke of it, (videl.
on the ninth of May, 1664 about 9 of the clock at night) a
fmall Spot in the biggeft of the 3 obfcurer Belts of Jupiter, and
that, obferving it from time to time, he found, that within 2
hours after, the faid Spot had moved from the Eaft to the Weft, about
half the length of the Diameter of Jupiter.

This is where it all began. I'm usually pretty happy living when I do, but part of me really wishes I could have been around for all that.

(Another part of me wants to write a paper on the space robot in this style and submit it to journals.)

Yet I find myfelf royally piffed that in the five years preceeding the accuistion in the year of 1976 or 1977 of my own four foot Telefcope with a mirror of fix inch diameter, of a defign by the late Sir Isaac Newton, that this fpot did fade in colouration and prominence fuch that it was not obfervable without a much larger inftrument, or by fpacecraft propelled toward Jupiter at confideral expenfe by a large rockett.
