Houston/Cute

We're in Houston. Things are going well. I'm going to try to make regular updates, but there isn't much to say yet. Instead, I will post the CUTEST BLACKSMITHING PICTURE EVER:

This was at the [livejournal.com profile] vixyish family reunion we hosted 2 weeks ago. Natalie was entranced by the forge, but far too short to use it safely. So I would heat up a rod and hold it over the horn of the anvil so she could hammer out a nice curve in it. We did this 3 or 4 times.

If every little kid was taught how to bend glowing iron, I think the world would be a much better place.

Hmm....

I envision a world where children learn to dream in shapes and possibilities, where glowing metal can form knives and curves, forming carefully hammered flowers wrapped around a wrought-iron railing and a keen whistling edge of a sword, the gull-wing sweep of metal worked into design of a plane...

This does sound like a good plan.
