more space robot madness

I had my flight physical for the Vomit Comet flight this morning. Until last week I was under the delusion that I had until the end of May to get it done. Turns out, more like the beginning of May. Today, in fact.

Luckily my weight loss was ahead of schedule. After a weekend filled with much physical activity and little food or drink, I just barely squeaked by on the weight requirement. Which is yay, but I really hoped to have a bit more margin there. In the 'less of a yay' department, the dehydration resulted in an invalid urine test. Since the physical was due today, and the NASA office is in Houston and closes early, I had a grand total of 90 minutes to get rehydrated. A leisurely breakfast -- including about 2 liters of water and apple juice -- later, I returned to the very accommodating doctor and passed. Whew.

So, not only am I go for the flight in August, but I can now say with a reasonably straight face that I've failed a urine test.

*Whew.* How's the robot itself coming?

BTW, my gizmo's coming along. I think I've got enough weight on the drive roller now, but my belt's slipping on the motor shaft. Time for more epoxy and some washers when I get back from DC.

So, "urine" trouble again, eh?

I've always wanted to start a company to supply clean urine to people taking urine tests, titled "Urine Luck".
