I've spent the last few days drooling over various tall ship volunteer opportunities. After flying the space robot in August, I'm putting in an application for the Lady Washington. It'll have to be some time next winter, but it sounds like they do more real sea transits then.

I spent the weekend replacing some of the tiles in the bathroom, where the backing board had rotted out due to bad caulking.

It went from this:

Through this:

To this:

All in all a nasty, unpleasant, rather satisfying process.

The inktable assembly on the printing press is done except for the final paint (which I haven't found yet). I put it all back together to check it out and the action on it is very smooth. I remain confident I can restore the entire thing to excellent working order.

Currently I have one of the large connecting rods electrostripping. One end of it, anyway. I had to replace the sacrificial anode as the old one was literally crumbling away. I'll probably have to replace it another 2 or 3 times before the press is done.

Good luck with the Lady Washington! We've got a friend or two who've worked on her.
