I finally ended up on a bus with the experimental wifi setup. The connection is pretty poor, though. GPRS or similar would be a lot more useful. Oh well, still a very sexy idea, and maybe it will improve with time.
What experimental set-up is that? Overall, I've been impressed with the GPRS on the Treo. Not fast, but consistent service, even in the middle of the state. Will play with it on the train ride over to Spokane and see what the coverage looks like along that route. Still need the laptop to pair to it.
