*blink*

I don't think I ever really paid attention to the lyrics of Lola before. This is a very different song than what I assumed it was.

But I still like Weird Al's Yoda better. The best concert experience in my life, no joke, was him performing it at the Spokane County Fair in 1996.

I think everyone at some point in their lives experiences that moment of "Holy crap, what the hell did The Kinks just sing?!?" with that song.

It's a rite of passage of sorts.

It was my favorite song as a kid. I think I figured out that actual lyrics about about 9 or 10. Considering how sheltered I was, that was quite a wake up call.

If you were a bit like Lola, it would probably outrank Al's effort. As it is, I'd guess you are more like Al :)

As you spoke of Lola, I remembered another Lola story for in my journal.

I was there! It was a great concert, even though we could ony see from the sides. A few years later, he was great in Pullman too.

What did you think it was? I don't remember not understanding the lyrics, but I'm sure there was a time.

I dunno, just your standard boys meets girl kind of thing. I often have a hard time understanding lyrics and just don't pay close attention.

I'm like you but at some point I managed to parse
Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls.
It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world,

and that got me listening a little more.
