(no subject)

Completely unrelated: Does anyone know the official name of those old physical map devices that displayed the current solar terminator? Maybe it's just the extreme sleepdep, but my Google-fu is failing me utterly. Mostly I just want to know how unaffordable a used one would be.

Edit: They're called Geochrons. Thanks go to Internet Braintrust rep [livejournal.com profile] hollyking.

I might be able to find it with a better description. I've never seen non-electronic devices that displayed the terminator.

I think you are looking for one of these (http://www.officeclocks.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=World_Clocks_Geochron).

Yes, thank you! Geochron!

And, yes, they are ridiculously expensive, even used. Oh well.

(Kind of outdated, but hey, it's the internets)

I think my grandparents have one of those. I thought it was electronic inside?
