I went to almost half as many movies in the theater this year as in 2003. Doesn't seem like this was a particularly poor year, though it wasn't a 1999, so I maybe I'm getting standards. Or broker.
Hidalgo
Silly, and not even slightly based on fact, but still fun.
Dreamers, The
Weird. It makes me feel almost dirty that all the incest didn't come across as particularly shocking. Maybe that was the point. I really have no idea.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
My (predictable) vote for best movie of the year.
Jersey Girl
Sue me, I really liked it. I think Smith does his best work when making a movie about subjects he really cares about.
Day After Tomorrow, The
A highly enjoyable disaster/survival movie that will someday sit proudly in DVD collection next to my copy of The Core.
Kill Bill Vol. 2
Better than the first, definitely. Still not cult worthy.
Super Size Me
I used the nausea I felt watching this movie to Pavlov myself into skipping fastfood for a month. Not bad.
Fahrenheit 9/11
A Michael Moore documentary that was almost... restrained! Almost.
King Arthur

Napoleon Dynamite
What the hell is the big deal about this movie? The world doesn't need more poorly done geek movies. It needs more well done geek movies and this just isn't it.
Maria Full of Grace
Not as powerful as I was hoping, but still very good.
Collateral
I loved it, but I'm a sucker for mood and character sometimes.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Probably the best of the three, though I don't see why they didn't make it 30 minutes longer.
Bourne Supremacy
Some very yummy intelligence action. Rates maybe a 0.75 on the Sandbaggers index.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
So! Much! Coolness! And really a fairly decent plot and okay acting. I'm sold.
Shaun of the Dead
Whee, fun zombies.
Team America: World Police
This is a great movie if you remember that it isn't actually political. It's just a parody of action movies. And it had the best montage sequence ever. EVAR.
Primer
If there is a 'Geeks building something that turns out to be a time machine and weird stuff happens' genre, this is its king. Still not exactly sure what happened at the end of the movie, but it sure captured the feeling of geeks building something.
Lemony Snicket
Haven't read them, thought it was pretty decent.
House of Flying Daggers
Pretty, of course. Not as good as Hero, sadly.
