The entire fight over Kerry's medals has always made be queasy. Ugly politics, and only likely to drag him down if he responds directly. But now I'm wondering if this isn't a huge opportunity for the Democrats to re-image themselves. From my not-particularly-objective viewpoint, all the charges look like the military turning on itself. More importantly, it is Republican oriented (if not Republican organized) military turning on other military. If the Dems are good, really good, they might be able to use this (combined with the argueably massive waste of life in Iraq) to subvert the common perception that the Republicans are always for the military. I can't imagine it would be a stable state, but it sure would be nice for the next few months...

Don't you think it's funny that they're making a stink about Kerry's medals when Bush didn't even go to Vietnam? ... and the whole AWOL scandal?
