I upgraded to the Pixel 2 a couple months back, and I've really liked it. It's the first phone that felt natural to use immediately, instead of taking a week or two of adjustment to the kinesthetics of holding it.

One thing that I didn't expect to like was the lack of headphone plug. I listen to a lot of media, and I thought this limitation would be really annoying. Instead, I've found myself wearing my bluetooth headset all the time. I got it for working in the shop, where having dangling cords is a bit dangerous, and where I've broken a phone previously by sitting on it while trying to grind an awkward bit of sculpture. The headset is one of the kinds that sits around your neck like a torc -- in fact I named it "Roc Torc" in my bluetooth listing. It's quite comfortable, and it has more than a heavy day's use worth of charge.

It's quickly becoming an invisible accessory in my life. I keep being surprised to realize I still have it on, sometimes as I'm changing for bed. Which means I'm using it in a lot of situations I wouldn't have before. This has proven particularly nice for videos, as I often don't want to play something with audio if I'm in a shared space. It's a new little cybernetic micropower. "Oh, I'm in bed with someone and can't sleep? I can watch YouTube shop vids until my brain spins down without waking them!"

I really didn't expect a new everyday carry at this point, having tried and passed on smartwatches. I thought the tech map was more settled. So that's interesting.
