I finally got the video of the Murmuration device edited together.
This was the piece I made for the Sculptures in Motions exhibit at VALA Eastside. I'm the "anchor" artist for that exhibit, which meant I had some hand in the call for submissions. This weekend we ran a workshop for teens, with the goal of setting up a "move the potato" competition in another two weeks. Move a potato across the room, with a device you make, using whatever mechanisms you want. We had kits of basic materials (dowels, rubber bands, wire, that kind of thing) to get them started. Unfortunately only a single family showed up out of the 12+ that had registered, possibly because the unusually nice weather that day. But we still had a fun time playing with the material kits, seeing what we could make. With the competition itself canceled, my work for this project is pretty much done.
