Slightly less late this year!

From September 4, 2009 to September 4, 2010 I...
...finished my thesis and got my master's degree!
...finally visited NYC.
...displayed art in a public place for the first time.
...finally saw a Shuttle launch in person.
...finally made a cross-country roadtrip.
...got a job that doesn't suck.
...designed and built a large, crazy Burning Man project which almost kind of worked.
...spent far too much time in painful self-analysis. Okay, this one wasn't so great. But necessary.

I guess it was the year of "finally". I'm hoping to continue the travel theme, particularly after I (hopefully) get my debt paid off sometime next year. It's been a very weird year, but most of it has been very personal, internal stuff. I feel much like I did the first year after undergrad, waiting for my life to crystallize into a new form. That inaugurated a decade of skill-acquisition and very positive changes in my personal life, so I'm hoping it turns out equally as interesting this time around. And at least I don't utterly loath my job this time around! I really like the emerging theme of kinetic sculpture, will be interesting to see where that goes. On a less positive note, at times I think I'm starting to feel the mental ossification of middle age, but I have to put my faith in the power of ridiculous projects to keep that at bay as much as possible. Not entirely happy with the more antisocial weirdo aspects of my personality that seem to be waxing. I should probably be fighting that more actively, but so far I've been finding it hard to care. In short, still waiting for getting older to stop feeling weird.

I'm not sure it ever stops.

Where do you want to go once you have the money (and hopefully time and freedom) to travel?
