Disagree about why intellectual property legally exists. Intellectual property is not real property, and has a shallow history in western culture as a legal concept. It was a fiction created, in industrializing nations, to encourage creative works. It wasn't out of "fairness" to creators per se, it was just presumed that providing economic control of the creations would allow for profit motives, etc.
