Today AG Holder deployed US Marshals to protect abortion clinics.

Tomorrow the federal government will take control of 60% of GM.

ETA: And Nevada overrode a veto to create domestic partnerships.

The Internet weather service is issuing an alert, effective immediately, for extreme levels of rightwing craziness. Epic, biblical levels of craziness. Users are warned that comment reading for the next 48 to 72 hours will be at high levels of risk to their own sanity. All rational people are advised to avoid unsecured fora until this threat is passed.

By 'until this threat is passed' you mean 'when the US has universal health care and G. Gordon Liddy has no audience and Kansas legalizes gay marriage', right?

'and Cascadia has high-speed rail'.

And the Obamas had the gaul to go on a date!

Some of us will always give G. Gordon Liddy attention even though we know we shouldn't, because the Dr. Phil of ex-mercenaries is just a little too kooky to not be funny. Art Bell and GGL should have puppies. And GGL could garrote them with the spines of kittens.

The abortion flareup will bring out a few of the spicier right wing nuts, but it's hard to imagine anybody who doesn't work at GM getting bent out of shape over their bankruptcy. GM has been such a national disgrace for so long that (admittedly non-social) conservatives were among the first to call for a GM bankruptcy.

D'oh! I know I have trouble with that word and always sort of wonder if I'm reversing or reverse-reversing the spelling, and of course ubiquitous spelling-correction doesn't catch it. Thanks for the reminder :)

Republicans characterised the [date] as insensitive and wasteful against the backdrop of US car giant General Motors preparing for an expected bankruptcy.

There was a quote that went with that somewhere, about Another Great American Institution going bamkrupt, or something. Some Republicans think they'll be able to leverage it into getting the American Worker back on their side, but not all Republicans, thank God. That would be pretty obnoxious.
