The 4th floor men's washroom, surrounded by labs and grad student offices, now has a poster for a suicide prevention hotline. That doesn't seem like a good sign.
Maybe the poster people have a quota. 16 Suicide Hotline and 12 "Don't Walk Away From Your Drink" per building. It always seemed that way at UW, anyhow.
A poster about drink/driving would probably save more people. I've had one close student friend suicide, and one academic/postdoc at my uni suicide, but can think of about five or eight ex classmates/acquaintances be injured or die in car accidents involving alcohol.
