This is the outfit I put together for Ben's mad science birthday party last weekend. It seemed like a good excuse to show off the new goggles, and ended up being really fun. I might have to do more stuff like this. The goggles worked great, and remained comfortable the entire night. I do need to add some elastic to the strap, though. Getting the right tightness is a bit tricky right now. Bonus: it makes wearing my hair down a lot nicer, holding the pilary tidal wave back just enough.
The jacket is a Duluth Trading Company work jacket my dad got me for forging. At the last minute I added the center punch and oil application device in the pen slots on the sleeve, which felt like a really nice touch. Plus it let me use a bit of machine oil as perfume. The shirt is a nicely rustic linen number I picked up at Value Village, exactly what I was looking for.
Suspenders! Turns out they are really hard to find here. I finally bought an ugly blue pair at a (different) Value Village and replaced the elastic. I think I might have to start incorporating them into my normal wardrobe. I've never had a tucked in shirt stay tucked in so well! Very comfortable, too. Not that I'd stop wearing a belt -- I have to hang my devices from somewhere. And, well, I think I can handle the 'belt and suspenders' symbolism.
