Last week I gave my talk on computer vision techniques at the OpenSourceBridge conference. It was pretty fun! I wish I had known more people there, but I really miss that kind of geek crowd. And it was hard not to get excited by the potential for adhocratic communities when seeing how much amazing stuff is being done that way these days, beyond just source code. (My big new addiction is OpenStreetMap, but that should probably be its own entry.) People working on neat stuff just because it is neat -- my perfect society, when it's possible. It all has definitely left me antsy to get back to Black Rock City.

It was also great seeing [livejournal.com profile] spinnerin_ftw, who I don't talk to nearly enough these days. And I got to (finally!) meet [livejournal.com profile] keystricken, who is just as awesome as I had assumed, and grab some coffee with [livejournal.com profile] catamorphism and trade bitter grad student stories.

I didn't go to Powell's! My will power held, which is somewhat amazing. But I couldn't resist getting a Korean taco, even though it meant standing in line for 30 minutes.

Anyway, I've posted slides from the talk as well as the demo source code, should anyone want to check them out.
