I should really post more often. Things have been pretty low-key after the SRVC competition, though.
In the lab, I've been implementing the saliency map component of Learning Saliency Maps for Objects Categorization. I've also been resurrecting the deeply bit-rotted research code described in Autonomous vision-based exploration and mapping using hybrid maps and Rao-Blackwellised particle filters. Neat stuff, but dense.
At home, I've been watching a lot of Good Eats. Thursday night I made a Caesar salad completely from scratch, which was pretty awesome. I think I might try his beef jerky recipe as a weekend project. Looks like fun, and it could make a nice addition to my standard lunch component options. I've never really been much into cooking before, but at the moment it's one of the few constructive, creative activities I have the resources for. Onwards and upwards, I guess.
